Shakira and Beyonce square off with their newest singles for January, and I must say, both of them are sizzling! But which one of them light your fire better — Shakira’s Can’t Remember to Forget You, or Beyonce’s Drunk In Love?
Shakira’s Can’t Remember to Forget You is an upbeat dance track, replete with the Latina pop-rocker’s trademark warblings, punctuated with heavy drumbeats and Rihanna’s vocal stylings in the refrain and bridge. Although no official video has been released yet, there are several fan-made videos already circulating around Youtube, like the one below.
Going down the more mellow route is Beyonce’s Drunk In Love, which starts out slow but somehow gains momentum with a throbbing rhythm at the chorus. She’s later joined by her husband Jay Z, who raps in the interlude. The video is shot on a deserted beach at nighttime, with Bey gyrating and dancing, also clad in a bikini.
While I prefer Shakira’s single for its more danceable tempo (and frankly, Beyonce’s repertoire of “I’ll-shake-my-booty-before-you-tap-it” anthems is getting old), you may disagree. So which one of these singles do you like better? Let us know in the comments below.
