It's a website where you can find all your favorite radio stations from shoutcast and you can play them directly through your browser, with no download require. Online-Radio-Stations.org gives you the opportunity to listen free to all the radio stations on shoutcast and the best thing is that no player installation is required.
- Who we are
We're 2 guys that enjoy listening to radio stations from shoutcast and we thought that people would like a website that could serve primarily as a simple radio tuner, no player installation required.
- I see 2 sections "GENRES" and "CHANNELS". What is their role?
The GENRES section contains a list with all the genres from shoutcast. When you select a genre, the CHANNELS section loads a list with all the radio stations in that area. With just one click you can listen to any radio station you want from the CHANNELS section.
- How do I listen to a radio station from the Channels list?
Just click on the radio station you want to listen, sit back and relax. This will launch the stream of the radio station and play it through our flash player.
- Sometimes there are Radio Stations that don’t display the song title and band name of the song that is currently playing. Why is that?
Not all the radio stations offer this information. Sometimes, they do but it is not always easy to grab and display it.
- Can I create an account?
For now, you can just tune in and listen to the radio stations. We are expanding and trying to develop a professional and more interactive website where people can meet, create their own profiles, create radio stations playlists and even add their own radio stations.
Technical issues
- What do I need in order to use Online-radio-stations.org?
You need flash player installed on your pc, if you don’t have it you can grab it here for free: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Our application is optimized for Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, Chrome and Mozilla Firefox; basicly all the browsers we know work just fine. You should also have at least a 56k Internet connection, but a broadband connection will give you the best results.
- The stream keeps buffering, what’s the problem?
Most of the radio stations on shoutcast stream at a very high quality, which is great when you are using a broadband connection but not so great when you are a using dialup connection. You will also notice that some radio stations take a long period of time to load even if you have a broadband connection. This has nothing to do with Online-Radio-Stations.org, the problem is with the shoutcast servers.
- I noticed that there is a short sound pause every 10-15 min. Why?
Working with flash has it's disadvantages, such as memory leaks. This short breaks actually clear the buffer and prevent the browser to crash. We are still testing a new and improved version of the flashplayer that will be pause free and will be published in the new version of the site.
