Web radio - a new, brighter future for all radio lovers
Radio's online audience is growing at an impressive pace. More than 42 million people each week listen to radio streams over the Internet, more than double the rate from five years ago, according to market-research firms. One of the big problems is that the market for Internet radio stations is bifurcated between listeners who tune in to streamed versions of existing, terrestrial radio stations and people who listen to Internet radio start-ups. Of the 42 million people who listen to Internet radio, 24 million are tuning in to Web-only radio. In addition, the number of web radio listeners pales next to traditional radio listeners, who total an estimated 234 million. Many listeners to online audio are tuning in to web radio services because of the fewer ads, no scratchy sound, always a good signal and the variety of web radio channels to choose from.
Even like this, terrestrial radios are broadcasted over the internet and the audience is as big as in a traditional radio. And nearly one in five people age 18 to 34 has listened to web radio in the past week, as some reports are stating. Given that Internet radio broadcasters have to pay royalties to play copyright music, the trade-off is that listeners either have to pay subscription fees to get more appealing choices and fewer ads, or put up with fewer choices and lots of ads.
And because of that, is why we exist. We made a huge selection of online radios that don't ask for paying, have only few ads and are enjoyed by everybody. Another advantage is that the web radio offers far more content than normal radio ever did. Any surfer has access to well over 500,000 official audio broadcast stations and many multiples of that in terms of personal Webcasts.
